William M. Colmer was a U.S. Congressman from Mississippi, serving in the House of Representatives from 1933 to 1973. He was a member of the Democratic Party and was a strong advocate for civil rights and labor issues. Colmer was also a supporter of the New Deal policies implemented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. During his time in Congress, he served on several committees, including the House Rules Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. He was known for his ability to work across party lines to pass legislation and his strong commitment to serving the people of Mississippi. Colmer died in 1980 at the age of 83.
